We flew to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and spent a day visiting Old San Juan. We explored many of the popular tourist sites including San Juan National Historic Site, which includes Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Castillo de San Cristobal, and Paseo del Morro. We also visited the San Juan Bautista Cathedral Basilica (which has the tomb of Ponce de Leon), and the Puerto Rico Capitol Building. After walking through the city gates and exploring the old city streets and their blue bricks, we then took a stroll along the waterfront and saw the Paseo de la Princessa water fountain and the San Juan cruise ship terminals. We spent a night at the Old San Juan Sheraton, which was located right on the bay so we could watch the cruise ships coming and going. We also enjoyed some incredible Puerto Rican Mofongo at La Bodega Restaurant. The next day, we returned to the airport to catch a flight on Cape Air (on a very small airplane that could only seat 9 people including the pilot).
