Benjamin and Tiffany took a multi-day trip around Ohio. Starting in Toledo, they visited the Fallen Timbers Battlefield & Fort Miamis National Historic Site to see the monument to the final battle of the Northwest Indian Wars.
In Port Clinton, they took the Jet Express Ferry to Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. On the island, they toured the 352-foot Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial, had a nice seafood lunch at The Boardwalk, and browsed the local shops. On the return ferry to Port Clinton, they saw the iconic Goodyear Blimp.
Driving south to the town of Fremont, Benjamin and Tiffany toured the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museum which also included the 31-room Spiegel Grove Estate and the gravesite of the 19th President of the United States.
After spending a night in Cleveland (where they had a wonderful dinner at Oak Barrel), they drove south through Akron to Canton and toured the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum. The site also includes the impressive tomb of the 25th President. Staying in Canton, Benjamin and Tiffany toured First Ladies National Historic Site and drove part of the original Lincoln Highway.
After driving west across the state to Bucyrus (where they drove more of the Lincoln Highway), they then toured the Warren G. Harding Presidential Site in Marion. The site included a tour of the recently renovated Harding home, a new museum with artifacts of the 29th President of the United States, and the impressive burial memorial.
Continuing south through Columbus to Cedarville, Benjamin and Tiffany enjoyed a short hike to Cedar Cliff Falls and the Massie Creek Gorge before driving to Dayton to visit the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. They toured the Wright Cycle Company complex and learned about the early days of Wilbur and Orville Wright using their knowledge of bicycles to help them develop the first successful airplane.
We flew to the John Glenn International Airport in Columbus where we drove through downtown and visited the Ohio Statehouse before driving east across the state.
We flew to the Cleveland area where we rode the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad between Cleveland and Akron through Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Also in the park, we toured the Canal Exploration Center and hiked to Brandywine Falls. East of Cleveland, we toured the James A. Garfield National Historic Site, visited Garfield's Tomb, and saw the David Berger National Memorial.
